Green Group Boston members possess a variety of impressive backgrounds, ranging form engineers to senior managers to sales and marketing. The common thread is a particular interest in matters relating to the Green Economy.

Climate Change and Employment

This presentation provides an overview of long-term climatic trends, and the employment opportunity opportunities as society attempts to transition to a new economic paradigm. David Heimann has a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Purdue and has held positions in government, industry, and academia. Dr. Heimann has been active on a statewide and national scale in the Sierra Club, writing formal comments on alternative energy planning and offshore wind power to state and Federal agencies and organizing and participating in energy-related conferences. In 2006 he received an award for best paper at the 2nd International Symposium on Management, Engineering and Informatics (MEI 2006).
Wind Energy Production

As states and regions increasingly embrace onshore and offshore wind energy to adhere to renewable portfolio standards, Sean O’Reilly wanted to share the presentation he gave to the Green Group Boston several weeks back. His presentation discusses both community and industrial scale wind energy production, including aspects of design and implementation, as well as related effects on employment opportunities in this field. Sean is is a materials and technology development professional, who is active in clean and green energy generation in the Boston area.
